I want my work to offer myself and the viewer somewhere to immerse themselves away from the pressing challenges of reality.

I have been painting from a young age, but I began creating this kind of art during my first year at University and during the challenging times of the covid-19 pandemic. I found that the combination of painting and music gave me the greatest sense of relief and calm, providing stability and purpose. It also allowed me to create pieces through instinctive chance, finding forms through process - where I feel I work best. I want my work to offer myself and the

viewer somewhere to immerse themselves away from the pressing challenges of reality.

Painting for me is like dancing or singing or composing music. It’s an intuitive flow state that I allow to overcome me, enabling a place where ‘not thinking’ becomes ‘the thinking’. An escape where I feel the most comfortable. Painting has provided and still provides me introspection into myself and therefore the context of my life and identity, allowing the exploration of a complex and subconscious landscape, reflecting my colourful and lively upbringing.

For me the most rewarding part of my process is finally reaching that feeling of completion. I feel that the painting process is like solving a puzzle, where it can be confusing or frustrating whilst endeavouring to work it out, but once you get that feeling it is finished, you can step back and feel totally and utterly completed. For me nothing beats that feeling.
